A Unique Wedding Venue in Cambridge, MA
Effective August 26, 2024, we will be unable to accept new wedding reservations. We expect this to be a temporary pause in our wedding ministry and hope to begin accepting new inquiries in the near future. Please check back again – we will update this announcement when we have lifted this suspension. Thank you for your interest in Swedenborg Chapel.
At Swedenborg Chapel, we believe that couples should have the opportunity to experience a wedding service that reflects their personal stories. We make it our job to create a sacred space for you and your families and friends that brings heightened meaning to the day’s events, incorporating your personal traditions and wishes. We welcome couples of all traditions and walks of life and celebrate the diversity of those drawn together in marriage love.
We encourage you to contact our wedding director as early in your planning process as possible, and to arrange a meeting with her in order to learn more about our services and to view our beautiful and historic facilities.
The Chapel
Our chapel, a prime example of the late eighteenth-century Arts and Crafts movement in Boston and completed in 1901, is a short 8-minute walk from the heart of Harvard Square, making it a perfect location for your wedding. Entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, the chapel was designated a protected landmark by the City of Cambridge on March 16, 1999, thanks to overwhelming community support and a recommendation from the Cambridge Historical Commission. The chapel’s charming Gothic Revival exterior leads you into a sacred space of simplicity and beauty, with seating for up to 175 guests. Our sound system provides quality voice and instrumental projection, and both a pipe organ and grand piano are available.

Thank you for the beautiful wedding ceremony. You calmed us just enough so that we didn’t burst into tears and laughter and start whispering to each other ‘Oh my goodness – we’re getting married!’ Alex and I are absolutely ecstatic to begin our marriage. Thank you for a beautiful and perfect wedding.
Matt and I are truly grateful for all you did to make our wedding special and meaningful. You set such a wonderful tone for the whole ceremony, and helped Matt and me focus on what was truly important about the day.
